Blackbeard

Well, I am very disappointed in this movie. I love pirate movies, I really love Angus MacFadyen, and this movie had both.

"Blackbeard" was originally a made-for-tv Hallmark Channel Movie. I meant to watch it when it was actually broadcast, but forgot. That should have told me something. This movie has to rank up there with the worst movies of all time.

The plot is simple, Blackbeard, whose real name was Edward Teach, is a scurrilous pirate (as most pirates probably were) who takes over his ship during a battle with a French Slave Ship. As portrayed in this movie, he is a drunken, vindictive, hot-tempered, murderous rogue. And throughout the movie, he is seeking the lost treasure of Captain Kidd.

The protagonist in this story is a British Navy Leftenant, who has been charged with infiltrating Blackbeard's crew and obtaining information. He discovers that the governor of New Providence (played badly by Richard Chamberlin) is in league with the pirates, along with the colony's magistrate. He also falls in love with the Governor's adopted daughter (a sub-plot is the Governor wanting her money).

The acting in this movie was so bad, I really couldn't concentrate on the action. Angus MacFadyen's dialogue was so garbled that I really had to strain to listen to it.

All in all, I WANT MY 2(+) HOURS BACK. Do not watch this movie!

Next up..."300"...I'm seriously looking forward to Gerard Butler's Butt in this one!
