Yesterday, it was yucky out, so I decided to watch one of the movies I had rented (FINALLY). So I chose Ghostrider. And it surprised me. I was expecting a very dumb movie (which it was) but not one I would really like. But...
Nicolas Cage plays Johnny Blaze, a carnie motorcycle daredevil. His father is part of his act, but is ill. Johnny makes a deal with the devil to cure his father and sells his soul. The devil (played by Peter Fonda who even says "Far Out") uses his usual trickery when he cures the dad, but you'll have to watch it to see what happens after that. There's also a girl that Johnny was going to run away with...
Fast Forward....Johnny is an adult, a daredevil in the mode of the late Evel Kneviel. And the devil's son, Blackheart, makes an appearance, wanting to start the End of Days. It's all rather formulaic, with evil henchmen and a mentor for Johnny (played by the ever sexy Sam Elliott).
This movie has chuckles along the way, could have been funnier, could have been scarier. But all in all, I liked it.
My recommendation: I want 0 hours back...it was good, but not great!
Up next, maybe Georgia Rules but most likely Pirates of The Caribbean: At World's End
