So, "Sherlock Holmes" was another failure for me. I tried to watch it, but found Robert Downey Jr. lacking as Holmes. Don't know, he just seemed cruel, rather than snobby and detached. SH is not one of my favorite characters anyway, so no big loss...and so ends my DVD subscription to Netflix.
We were slow at work this week, so I watched "Grey Gardens" while there. The story of the Edith Beales (Big & Little), it was truly disturbing. Edith Bouvier Beale (Big Edith) was the cousin of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. By the time this documentary was filmed, in the early 70's, Edith was nearly completely bedridden and completely dependent on her daughter (Little Edith or Edie). But Big Edie had flashes of sanity, where Little Edie was just completely nuts.
Well, maybe not nuts, but certainly socially inept and immature for a woman of 54. She flirted like a teenager or even a pre-teen. Very, very odd. You need to watch it to get a sense of the true oddity of these characters.
Ratings:
Sherlock Holmes Well, it would be I WANT MY 2 HOURS BACK if I had watched the whole thing.
Grey Gardens - I WANT 0 HOURS BACK. Definitely recommended (but not late in the evening, it gave me the weirdest dreams).

There is quite a wonderful side of Edie Beale. Smart, funny, and sweet. Check out WWW.MYGREYGARDENS.COM
